Sweaters and overalls

When overalls began making a comeback, I was a bit skeptical at first. Perhaps it's because the only time I ever remember wearing overalls is as a child. But after I bought my first pair, I never regretted it. I remember the
insecurities and excitement I felt the first time I walked around the block in them. I was headed for the trolley, on my way to San Diego's Little Italy Farmer's Market. At the time, my insecurities were rooted in my perception of overalls being for children and secondly, I just hadn't seen anyone my age or older in them. It didn't take long before I could feel the stares coming in my direction. I'm sure much of it was just my imagination, except of course for the remarks made by the vendor selling me a spring salad mix and the random stranger at a stop light. I'm still unsure if his were meant in jest.

It didn't matter though. I was in love with them and they quickly became a staple in my closet. Not too long after, I added a pair of black ripped overalls that I found on Zara's website. Although overalls have become a more popular sight in stores and definitely on Instagram, I have yet to see them worn more regularly while in public. I confess it still has me feeling a bit insecure every now and then, because naturally it's easy to wonder what others think of you. But usually I'm far past those ideas and enjoy the comfort and look overalls provide.

I have found the best deals on overalls to be from Zara. They always have a unique and stylish look and for the most part are more affordable than brands like Free People, Anthropologie, and Madewell. Because overalls are unique, I really don't think you need too many. I prefer a pair in blue and a pair in black. I recently replaced my blue pair (I felt the top part wasn't as flattering as I wanted them to be) with a new pair from Zara. I love the buttons down the top half and the one sided pocket. The scattered rips along the legs also give it a worn in and comfy look. I enjoy pairing my overalls with striped shirts or when it's cooler, with sweaters.
